Hi All!

I am considering purchasing a 40' boat in Ontario, Canada. I live in Cleveland, Oh. I would like to sail the boat to my local marina. I welcome any information you may have on making the passage.

Thank you!

Natalie, I have never sailed the Great Lakes, but was considering buying a sailboat in MI to sail Lake Superior. I grew up in Duluth, MN at the tip of Lake Superior. The limited advice that I can pass along is to keep a sharp eye on the weather, which can change very rapidly from docile to horrendous. I was advised that most of the Great Lakes are relatively shallow and, as such, build up a sea quite rapidly. You want to keep a "safe harbor" close at hand if the weather is iffy. Hope this helps!
