We are planning on sailing a KP44 from Singapore to Bundaberg, starting in late March. The plan is to cut over to the SW corner of Borneo, avoiding hopefully the islands north of the route that have had pirate problems lately. Then NE to KK for fuel and provisions. Then well south of the Phillippines and north of Indonesia, north of Irian Jaya/New Guinea to New Ireland.
From there work or way SE, up wind, to Honiara and set off from there after the cyclone season direct to Bundaberg.
Does this seem feasible/achievable? Is there an optimum plan when sailing along he Equator. Is there an Equatorial counter curent or is that Nino dependent?
