Hi, I'm currently in the Azores and am considering sailing to S A and round the cape to aus. I hear horror stories of conditions rounding the cape. Comments and advice would be welcome, Thanks,Peter

If you've the time and coast hop from Saldanha/Langebaan around its not to bad.. you'll have to take a coach into Cape Town to clear in but its not far.. after that you can hop round in day trips from Port to Port... the SA Coastguard(SAR) offer a free course on navigating their coastline which is well worth taking as you'll learn a lot of local knowledge which could save you and your boat...

Hi

I am intrigued by the comment re the SA coast guard offering a course for sailing the SA coast. I assume one has to be there?? Or do they do this via the internet?
