Hi John,

It seems an unusual route but I know of two yachts who have done this route but so far they are still in South East Asia/Philippines They both had good trips day hopping down the Red Sea then across the Indian Ocean with good following winds ie the SW Monsoon Season to arrive in Phuket. It is a straightforward trip down the Malacca Strait, Singapore and across to Borneo if you pick the right season. I have written in another thread about my experiences in getting to Australia - see Sailing over the top of Australia in another place in this forum. www.sailmalaysia.net is a good site to see about the Rally to the East (Langkawi Malaysia (April) to Kota Kinabalu in Borneo (August).

Cheers

Dave
