SPECIAL EVENT, Last Chance Regatta & Qualified Nations Regatta at French Olympic Week

[Day 3 of 7] HYÈRES, FRANCE (24 April 2024) – The iQFOiL fleets hit the water early for day four in pursuit of the event’s only marathon race. After a dynamic upwind rabbit start, both Last Chance and Qualified Nations fleets set out for the hour-long race in 13 knots of breeze.

Though fleet leader and US Sailing Team athlete Noah Lyons took 16th in the marathon race, his consistent racing all event – with wins in all but one race – meant that the marathon’s double-counted 16th finish went straight to his three allotted drop scores. Never leaving 1st overall this week, Lyons will advance straight to tomorrow’s finals and is therefore guaranteed a medal at the Last Chance Regatta, officially securing his ticket to the Paris Olympics with one day of racing to spare.

Markus Edegran, USST and Paris 2024 selected Men’s Kite athlete, ended his qualifying series racing in fifth overall. He will sail in tomorrow’s semifinals, where he will need two race wins to advance to finals. To lock in his spot in Marseille this summer, Edegran will need to finish as the 5th or higher country ranking overall... Read More
