Weather BVI to Bermuda 08 May

Weather: BVI to Bermuda
08/05/2018

Prepared: May 08 07:25UTC

WRI Weather

Synopsis: A High centered near 37N/42W extends stronger ridging SW to the BVI/Puerto Rico, while also extending E to Azores and SE to Canary Islands. The high and associated ridging will tend to change little thru the 12th, while the high center shifts over the Azores.

A gale currently centered in the W Labrador Sea extends SW to Bermuda, and further SW to the central Bahamas. The gale will strengthen into a storm by the afternoon of 9th, while the cold front extends SW to 40N/65W, and then SW to Bahamas. The ridge will prevent substantial E movement of this front, though it is expected to weaken thru the afternoon and evening of 11th.

Another gale will be centered near 50N/25W by the afternoon of 10th, while extending SW along 35N. The front will shift SE thru the Azores by the morning of 11th and then weaken, while the gale lifts NE to near 55N/23W by the morning of 11th.

A Low will be centered across NE Quebec while extending a cold front SW across the Great Lakes E to New York State by the afternoon of 10th. The front will move offshore by the morning of 11th while weakening over Bermuda by the morning of 12th.

Conclusion: Across Zone I, expect fresh to strong NE gusts this morning to veer SE by tomorrow evening and then persisting thru at least the evening of 10th. Additionally, peak NE swell sets between 5-8 feet can be expected, with the highest sets tending to E portions of this grid over the next 2-3 days. Showers and squalls are expected to continue thru the next 2-3 days.

Across Zone F, fresh to strong NW to SW breezes will prevail. Peak S swell sets of 9-12 feet will occur thru tomorrow morning as the cold front begins to weaken, though showers and squalls will be ongoing thru at least the evening of 10th.

Across Zone C, showers and squalls will remain less widespread in nature. Fresh to strong SE to S breezes will prevail thru evening of 10th. Peak SE swell sets of 5-8 feet will prevail as well thru the evening of 10th.
