Exocet Strike - 15-16 February 2017

After an interesting night as per my last blog, the sky cleared and we had lots of sun during the day, with 12 to 14 knots of SE winds, great for comfort and speed. This evening we could see behind us a big dark area of cloud which a couple of the fleet were embedded within. Winds up to 25 knots and since it was building where we were we dropped in a couple of reefs. The wind rarely went above 16 knots from the SE to SSE, but that was giving us 8.5 to 9 knots, great and not too heeled over. By midnight the wind was down to 10-12 knots but since there are numerous squalls around we've left the reefs in.
Today is Stella's birthday, so one at sea again, although last year was in Auckland and we were fortunate to have our great friends Paul and Rosie staying with us! We will celebrate when we arrive in Cabedelo no doubt!
