NDS Darwin - Day 13

Day 13 onboard

After everything that happened two days ago, nothing else interesting happened! (Thankfully!!)

Only that today, I had one of my meltdowns... I'm 19 years old, skippering a boat across the Atlantic, already took a 'gap' year and have no idea what to do next year! I want to keep on traveling, meeting new people, but at the same time I think I need to have an university degree not only my yachtmasters! Because I want sailing to stay as my hobby not make it into an obligation by working 24/7 sailing..

This feeling of watching the horizon and smiling is not going to be taken away by an awful boss that yells at me because of being a young woman... I want to keep this sensation for me and the people I love.

Sailing and feeling the wind in my face, playing with the sails to make the most of the wind, looking at the weather and analyzing different routes we should take, washing the boat only for her to look clean and shiny not for the demanding guests that will arrive soon, being in the middle of the sea looking up and almost crying because is like a dream to be watching at so many stars at the same time, having to wake up at 2am to stay awake for two hours just to be you and the ocean.. all of that is my PASSION and no one is never ever going to take the fun out of all of that.

Now to the boat news.

On Wednesday we ended up fishing two Mahi Mahis more. My conclusion with us not fishing, was that the change of moon affects the fishes out here.. because after the first night of new moon we got really lucky 4 fish in a couple of hours!!

So because our spinnaker failed us we are using our genoa and stay as a nice butterfly, and sailing quietly straight to St Lucia!

Yesterday and today had mostly been chilling in the sun, with music and books! And watching a couple of movies when the sun is too strong!
Today we had mahi mahi in every different way possible! Had an amazing day

Tomorrow the wind will drop so maybe we will have to motor! something that we didn't underestimate was the fuel so we are okay in that department haha

Everyone is really happy onboard, we are all enjoying and taking it easy because it has been a loooong trip. Already two weeks, wow

We are starting our countdown tomorrow!!!! 4 days to go!!!

633nm to my dearest St Lucia! That place already feels like home... it's going to be my second time this year!
Wooohoo!!!

Out for now smiling Lucia on NDS Darwin.
