Paw Paw - Log Days 172 & 173: The Trusty Sewing Machine to the Rescue

Yesterday Elaine spent most of the day sorting, cataloguing and uploading our latest photographs of Tahaa and Bora Bora as well as writing a new website article. Unfortunately the latter is taking a little longer, given the experiences we've enjoyed in the last 6 months - Incredible really.

The day was pleasantly interrupted when we heard a familiar voice on the VHF radio - Nina had eventually made it to Bora Bora after being weatherbound in Raiatea. No sooner had they got settle when we were hailed again. Happy Hour on Nina had started. Needless to say, there was a lot of chatter as we all shared our stories since last seeing them in Tahaa.

Today it was Elaine's trusty 33 year old Singer sewing machine that came to the rescue. Nina had torn a section of their mainsail operation en route from Raiatea. With direction from Steve, Elaine managed to fix it, but not without a lot of tension and concentrated positive thoughts from both Steve and Elaine willing the little machine to keep going. At one point, it seemed we had both forgotten to breath.

It was a lovely surprise then, later this evening when we all met up at the Heiva, to receive a bottle of gin as a thank you from all aboard Nina.
