Paw Paw - Log Day 89: Tattoo Time

This morning we left the beautiful Baie de Taioa for the main anchorage on Huku Hiva, Baie de Taiohae and we were pleasantly surprised to see some WARC yachts still around.

Once we were settled, it was off to shore to drop off laundry, garbage, our propane gas bottle for refilling, book a car for our explorations on Saturday and make an appointment for our tattoos.

After enjoyong a local lunch, it was tattoo time. However, Roy still had no idea what he wanted. Then a moment of brilliance - While drinking one of the local beers, Hinano, it hit him - He decided to have a tattoo of the beer can.

Elaine, on the otherhand created a design that encapsulated some of wonderful memories experienced during this sailing adventure thus far - A seahorse she saw on her very first dive in Bonaire and those she subsequently saw in the Galapagos Islands, a turtle for the many she has snorkeled with, as well as the huge leatherback turt les which we witnessed beaching in Grenada to lay their eggs, a dolphin for those she dived with, swam with and enjoyed frolicking in Paw Paw's bows on so many occasions, a manta ray for those that " danced" for us just a few days ago while we were anchored in Baie d' Hakahau and the waves of the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, both of which we have crossed on this circumnavigation. The symbols of the sealife are the ancient Marquisian designs as a reminder of these beautiful islands and the people.

We topped off the day with sundowners on Paw Paw for the WARC yachts still in the anchorage - Nina and Do Over, as well as Balvenie (Amanda and Mark) and Zota (Corola and Jim) whom Elaine met while Roy was having his tattoos done.

A great day all in all!
