Timshel - Society Isles

We paid a quick visit to Huahine, taking care to give the outer reef a good offing - we had been warned about the Pogo (a racy type of yacht) that had been picked up by a wave and dumped on the reef - fortunately all the people were OK. Then hurried on to Raiatea as we hoped to get the electrician there to fix our Raymarine autopilot. he thought the hydraulic pump was stuffed - but great news they had one at the chandlery in Tahiti and it could be airfreighted (with help from the agent Laurent). So we went to the neighbouring island of Tahaa (its in the same lagoon) and snorkelled in the coral garden - very impressive lots of very tame fish. Then waited for our part. Unfortunately when it came it was completely the wrong thing, an electric pump for a wheel not hydraulic, they never had the correct part so our hopes of having a working electric autopilot were dashed once again. So then a bouncy sail over to Bora Bora, followed by a bouncy few days on a buoy at Maikai Marina. Many of the anchorages in these islands are so deep that we are all scrabbling to get buoys. Good to meet up with the rest of our WARC friends and we had a nice dinner and a trip round the lagoon with some where we got to swim with sharks and stingrays, then the fun dinghy race - Val organised a womens team "the Voluptuous Vahines", 6 of us in Tullah Mhor's small dinghy plus an inflatable Palm tree - but we came second!
