Lexington - Captain Bob:another challenge

No rest for the wicked!? We ran the generator today to charge up the batteries. It quit while Ann was on the boat. Jim and I came back to the boat after we had struggled with unfurling the asymmetrical spinnaker to repair a hole. We started looking into the problem with the generator. It would start fine and would stop after a while. It would continue to run if you held the oil pressure switch down after starting. Fortunately there were people working on another boat who we convinced to come to our boat. They spoke little to no English but we worked together fairly well. To make a long story short we noted that the engine was hot. We looked at the impeller and it was eaten up, melted. We then realized we did not have water coming thru the strainer.
FINALLY I DOVE THE BOAT TO FINE A FISH TOTALLY PLUGGING THE THRU HULL. THAT WAS THE CAUSE OF EVERYTHING,!!!
We learn something every day.
