Canouan Island is part of St Vincent. We took a tour there to see the sights. Our guide was very opinionated. The majority of the island has been leased to a company for 99 years. The original company split up over money. One owner has undertaken a marina development and the other has vacation villas that are very expensive. The guide was negative about all the money the investors were supposedly making. He claimed they were not paying good wages and not improving the rest of the island. It is hard to know what is right. I am sure the locals are not getting the best jobs and the best pay but I find it hard to believe that they are not better off on an island that is having massive capital investment. As is my usual conclusion, who know what is correct and just.
