ARC Europe Weather Azores to Portugal 10 June

Synopsis: Broad ridging currently extends NE to the Azores, then N to 55N in association with a High 30N/35W. High expected to drift N to 35N thru 13th, with broad ridging gradually shifting into the Bay of Biscay, strengthening.

A weak trough of low pressure centered over the Bay of Biscay extends a trough axis E into central France. Low will meander E into France the morning of 11th, while marginally changing in strength, before strengthening into the morning of 12th.

On the evening of 12th, a cold front will extend SW to 35N/50W, then W to Cape Hatteras from a gale centered near 50N/35W. Front will weaken considerably as it tracks just to the north of the Azores the morning of 14th.

Conclusion: Gentle to moderate winds are expected across Grids AAA and BBB throughout the forecast period, though winds can gust up to 15kts for a brief time today across Grid AAA. NW'ly swell up to 5ft will prevail across both grids today, though both grids will see a lowering of swells throughout the next couple of days.
