ARC Europe Weather Azores-Lagos 08 June 2018

Synopsis: Low near 42N/17W will drift SE to abeam Cp San Vicent weakening into a trough thru 09/06 AM. The trough will change little thru morning of 10th before gradually weakening thru morning of 11th.

High near 37N/33W. Associated ridging extends SE to Canary Islands, and SW along 15N. High and associated ridging will change little thru morning of 11th, before ridging spreads E over Iberia by mid-day on 11th, then changing little thru 14th.

A Low will be centered near 42N/40W by morning of 12th, while extending a cold front SW along 33N. The front will change little thru morning of 13th, though the low will accelerate NE to near 53N/18W while strengthening into a gale. The gale will weaken over Ireland while the associated cold front then shifts E over Azores.

A series of weak lows will develop in the Bay of Biscay by morning of 10th, and this pattern will persist thru at least the morning of 14th with little change, before re-developing.

Conclusion: A retrograding area of low pressure will result in peak NW swell sets of 6-10 feet across Zone AAA, 9-12 feet across Zone BBB and Zone CCC. As the low weakens over the next several days, increasingly benign conditions are expected to take hold over each zone thru the morning of the 13th. Fresh NW breezes will tend to prevail across Zone AAA and BBB as the low weakens thru the next few days. Expect periodic showers and squalls to develop as the low retrogrades and then weakens, and once again thereafter thru 13th with the approach of a cold front.
