Wandering through the Gardens of Ene'io

06 June 2018

The World ARC fleet 2018/19 participants were treated to an amazing day of beauty at Ene’io Beach and Botanical Garden. Privately owned and developed by Haniteli Fa’anunu, the 22 acre property is a collection of over 100 plant families and 500 plant species, both native and exotic. It has the largest and most varied plant collection in the Kingdom of Tonga.

As an agronomist with 38 years of agricultural experience (18 as the Director of Agriculture and Food within the Tongan government), Haniteli and his wife Lucy offered participants a personalized tour through gardens, followed by demonstrations of local handicraft work, including basket weaving, coconut processing and kava brewing.

Participants were then treated to a bountiful Tongan feast for lunch and many enjoyed swimming in the crystal clear waters of Ene’io Beach.
