Counting down to the ARC start

18 November 2016

Departure day is looming for ARC Crews in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the clock counts down to Sunday's start. The pontoons are bustling with activity with constant deliveries of provisions from supermarkets and the local fruit and vegetable market. It’s a colourful and busy spectacle when wandering around the marina.

Most crews have now arrived and several yachts are leaving the port to go out sail training, practising sail changes and manoeuvres. Skippers also are briefing their crew on all the boat systems, planning their daily routines on board and preparing meals for their first days at sea. With so much knowledge gained from the seminars earlier this week, and the opportunity to share experiences with fellow boats, the ARC fleet looks set to be well prepared for the start on Sunday.

It's safe to say that anticipation is steadily building and most crews are all set for the off. This evening, the Gran Canaria Tourist Board will host a Farewell Cocktail Party to wish ARC crews bon voyage!
