Sailor Ted joins the Friskus Crew

Each year children of the ARC are invited to write to the ARC's mascot, Sailor Ted and tell him about the adventures they will have if he joins their boat for the crossing. This year he will set sail on board the family boat Friskus for his second Atlantic Crossing. Below is the letter from the Brattum family, translated from Norwegian:

We are three kids (Elise 10, Oyvind 7 and Silje 5) living on board the Norwegian SY Friskus VI and we would like Sailor Ted to come sailing with us across Atlantic. We will have a lot of fun on board and if he chooses to come with us as crew, here’s some of the things he will do:

When we play Dora and Boots we normally do a treasure hunt. One of us hides something and the other kids try to find it. At school we learn lots of things, for example Norwegian, and Sailor Ted has to do the same. In the breaks we play, draw or swim. All our stuffed animals need to wear lifejackets so they don’t fall overboard. When we play hide and seek we always find a new fantastic hiding place and its also nice to have when we play Labyrinth.

Labyrinth is a game where we solve different tasks while Taurus is trying to get you. Sailor Ted needs to try the Norwegian brown cheese that we sometimes have for lunch; something we love.

We have made a club called OSE club and the members are Oyvind, Silje and Elise. All our stuffed animals come to learn knots, have a pillow fight, listen to audio books and much more.

We have decided to have a junior Eurovision for our stuffed animals and we will have a camp while crossing the Atlantic. Our stuffed animals are: Pingvini, Koseelefanten, Baatgakken, Baatmusen, Nora, Pusi, Lilly, Flyffi, Minni, a cat and a dog and hopefully Sailor Ted.

We are going to bake together with Mum and watch the stars in the sky at night. Sailor Ted is going to sleep in our cabin.

Elise, Silje and Oyving

Like thousands of other crews currently in Muelle Deportivo, Sailor Ted can't wait to set sail tomorrow for the start of ARC 2015!
