Jasmine - Day 11

--Another dorado today. Same time same lure same everything and he tasted even better just lightly fried for lunch.
Last night we nursed Jasmine along through a flat night , Joxer used his light airs experience and achieved a decent night time run.
During the night we spotted another yatch on the same heading as ourselves on the radar, about 10 miles ahead .We identified her as Sundance another ARC boat, she is a 54 footer and should have been much further ahead, also she was doing 5.4 knots to our 7.In the morning we overhauled her and spoke to her on the radio. She is an Austrian boat and had damaged her forestay and was proceeding under jury rig.We exchanged best wishes and sailed on.
Later in the afternoon Joxer hooked something big, when he was hauling it in it jumped and got away. when he retrieved the lure the hook was broken, it must have been huge, the hooks are good for 50 kg fish.
Dinner is almost ready now and it will soon be dark, generally those not on watch at 8 go to bed immediately following dinner, getting up for their watch later.
We use a four hour watch system with two men on at all times for the twelve hours of darkness, its necessary with the fast changing wind conditions hereabouts .
As a result we are all pretty tired at this stage not having had a full nights sleep for 11 nights. We take any opportunity during the day if its quiet to sleep.
Looking forward to more good sailing tonight especially as we are now in the Tropics having crossed the Tropic of Cancer this afternoon.
