Hot Stuff - blog day 11

'Celebrations'
We have passed our half way point - and it's Ulli's birthday today!

Despite a sailing vessel's clear intentions to wipe us out T-bone style at 3am we made it through the night. The last 24 hours have entailed:
- Another successful night-time kite drop in the dark as the wind topped 25 knots.
- Our first interaction with the male species in 10 days over VHF radio  basically asking him in the most polite way possible to kindly come up our rear and not run us over. That was after we worked out he was actually a sailing boat. For those sailors out there he was showing his anchor light, steaming light and deck level navigation lights simultaneously. For non sailors - he was decorated like a Christmas tree and looked remarkably more like a +50m cargo ship hurtling towards us at full throttle than a sailing yacht.  Collision avoided however as the girls sweet talked the French man on the radio.
- We passed the half way longitude of 38 degrees 30 West. Party tonight!
- We made what we are hoping to be the last gybe of the trip (??). Currently straight lining Rodney Bay! Well until the champers later tonight  when the phrase 'straight line' may not be such an accurate description.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ULLI
This blog is really to share the things we love about Ulli - our crewmate and new friend.
- Expert helmswoman
- She gives the best cuddles
- Her lovely sweet voice
- Mesmerizing chameleon eyes
- We LOVE Boatsmann
- Her steering teaching techniques that resemble a traffic coordinator (new career??) "Right, right, right, left, left, up, up, up, down, down, down - noooo!!"
- Best roomie eva.
To everyone at home who knows Ulli - we hope you are happy to know we are celebrating in style: Chips and sour cream pringles for lunch. Cake and bubbles for tea. Risotto and strawberries for dinner.
Some would think that our life on-board revolves around food ... they are probably right!
