Waving goodbye to Fiji

And they're off, next stop Vanuatu! The World ARC Pacific fleet left Musket Cove, Fiji this morning headed for their next stop, Port Resolution on Tanna Island. It was a clear start under blue skies with a gentle breeze picking up as the boats sailed across the line. First to cross was Escapade, closely followed by A Plus 2 and Seaside. Fourteen boats crossed the line making a beautiful picture as sails filled the horizon framed against the stunning blue backdrop of the Fiji waters.

This is a short leg, approximately 450nm from Fiji to the first stop in Vanuatu, Port Resolution with the first boats expected to arrive from Monday. It should be a fairly good sail with winds predicted between 10 - 15 knots and gusts up to 20 knots.

The boats have enjoyed catching up in Fiji after almost a month of free cruising around the islands and celebrated with a dinner and meke where the fleet waved goodbye to 3 boats leaving the rally in Fiji. There have also been morning running groups, a walking tour around the island and plenty of sunset drinks at the island bar and a highly competitive Pétanque world championship on the beach!
