Morgane of Sark - a lazy tuesday at the Morgane of Sark

While the sky is turning red as the sun sets, and the sails are clapping due to little wind, we write you the daily update from the Morgane of Sark. Today flew by, and actually we didn’t do much. As active as we all were yesterday, today we were a bit lazy. It was very warm today! Just some reading, wave staring, cooking, eating, playing with Evy and chatting on the SSB every once in a while. No dolphins anywhere and no fish on our hook. Nor another attempt to bake an eatable bread.

In the afternoon, we decided to gype. After catching a new weather forecast, we wanted to go a bit more south. We were still butterflying with the main on port side, already more than 36 hours. The whole manoeuvre took us about an hour. The preventer, the boom, the cutterjip… . We take it easy on the ever moving ship.

After all this effort, we were moving much slower, so we changed it again. And sailed with the main and genua both over star board for a couple of hours. But, we don’t want to go to Brazil, so we had to change course again after going a bit to far South.

Now, we have the main and the cutter jib over star board and the jib on the boom on port side. We have the auto pilot steering at a wind angle of 165 degrees. And our course over Ground is about 230 degrees. We hope to catch a little more wind soon. Appearing windspeed is 6 knots at the moment and our SOG is around 5 knots. But, with still another 1670 miles ahead of us, it would take us another 14 days to reach Grenada at this speed. And we will miss the welcome party…. So, hopefully we get a indeed some more wind by Thursday.

We had a nice piece of fish with a salad and lentils for dinner. Mila had a vegan burger. We bought a whole fish at the fish market in Mindelo, had it cleaned and put it in parts in the freezer. Happy with the freezer and ofcourse with the generator, who runs 2 hours a day.

Current position: N 12* 26.19 W 33* 38.63
We have sailed 555 miles so far.
