Walkabout - Walkabout - Baking - And that's not just the weather - Day 3 Mindelo to Grenada

Where does the time go?? The days are seeming to go quite quickly so far. We spend a lot of our time together sailing the boat, making sail/course changes and reviewing likely next moves (with a little help from our Shore Side Weather Team - Ade&Bev) . It between there is some time for reading and catching up on sleep. But not much else at the moment it seems.

However, Traci has been baking bread. And it is a great success. Just like at home. The new GN Espace oven is ideal for baking - it gets evenly hot and has space for loaves. We have photos - they will have to wait for an internet connection.

We made just one sail change yesterday, and swapped the BWR for the G1. That was a good decision. We made great progress through the evening, aiming towards Grenada. During the day yesterday we didn’t see a single boat. There were 3 or 4 on AIS, but too far away to see them. Then into the night there seemed to be a coming together of boats, and suddenly we were in a close range sandwich between Mahoa and Luna. This morning things have dispersed once again and there is no one in sight.

We can already look at things around the boat and consider the benefits of the upgrades we have made - The Hydrovane is doing an awesome job. We generally only use the auto helm when doing sail changes. 98% of our helming is done by the Hydrovane - powered by the wind.

The weather is still hot and humid, and largely overcast. Visibility is good this morning. Still haven’t started fishing - maybe today.

For dinner we had one of Traci’s picks and nibbles platter, with freshly baked bread (it was still warm). This morning we will make good use of the bread for scrambled eggs on toast.

News hot off the press overnight - I have read a whole book!!! Traci can’t remember me ever finishing a book (not sure I can either!). This retirement and sailing thing is a new way of life.
