Nofo ā Tonga, World ARC 2017-18 sailing from Tonga to Fiji



It’s already time to leave for Fiji, the World ARC participants gathered together at the Mango Café’ for Dinner and Prizegiving for Leg 5 before clearing out from Tonga and heading to Fiji.

The price giving event was just next to the bay with a view of the many boats in the anchorage. The evening started with welcome drinks of the traditional drink Kava, and the Brass Band from a local school playing for participants.

    

Just after the welcome drink the crews moved in Mango Café’ for the Dinner and Prize giving: the dinner was a buffet with a mix of international and local cuisine, much appreciated from participants, followed from a warm welcome from Bruno Toke Toula, the Director of the Tourist Office in Vavau, on behalf of the Minister of Tourism of Tonga.

       

 In the 5th Leg from Bora Bora to Tonga, the fleet was split in 2 groups, the First arrived in Class A were Aurora and Ashia, in Class B Lexington and Taistealai, in Multihull Hanna and Misto.

      

On Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th  World Cruising Club arranged the clearance procedures with 2 Custom and Immigration officer at the Mango Café and duty free fuel at the wharf, 10 boats left Thursday and the rest of the fleet between Friday and Saturday.

Next stop Lau Group, Fiji; World Crusing Club organized the clearances in the island of Vanua Balavu, exclusively for the World ARC fleet, to give the opportunity to explore this beautiful untouched archipelago before heading to the main islands.
