Port wine, tuk tuks and fish!

The ARC Portugal rally fleet began arriving at the Douro Marina from midday on Tuesday after the short leg from Povoa da Varzim; light winds meant the fleet mostly motored from port to port. The first group was greeted by TukTuks at the Marina entrance, the TukTuk tour consisted of two different parts. First, the participants visited the city of Gaia and after some stunning views of the river, were taken to Porto where they explored the local streets in the Tuk Tuks. After visiting the cities the Tuk Tuks went back to Gaia where they visited Churchill's Port wine lodge. Here the participants had a quick tour of the lodge and got the chance to try three different types of port wines.

On Tuesday evening a welcome supper was held at the marina restaurant where the crews enjoyed the local fresh fish while the sun set over the marina. Prizes were also given out that night; the winner of the worst Smiley Miley was given to Mike and Marty from Sweet Harmony who guessed 15 kilometres which was almost 60 km out from what the rally team had actually driven. Serafina was the winner for the ETA where they were only 6 mins off their actual ETA. In the sailing standings, the overall winner for Class A was Blonde Moment and the winner of class B was Mischief.

On Wednesday the second part of the group headed off on the TukTuk tour while others had the day to relax around the marina. Crews were then up early on Thursday as they left Porto at 0800 sailing south to Figuera da Foz where a barbeque of unlimited sardines awaited them.
