Mischief - 10th September 2018 Mischief Darwin to Lombok

Mischief Sob

The lack of wind did not suppress the enthusiastic atmosphere as we crossed the start line, rest of the fleet behind on our cruise to Lombok. Sadly, it is not a race so prizes for this achievement , all be it under engine will not be recognised. C'est la vie. The crew spirits were lifted by the Maddi's waves of farewell and encouragement from the quayside. Love you Maddi we'll struggle without our tour guide. Good luck in all your new adventures in Australia.

Pirates of the Timor Sea.

We soon settled into routine watches, meals and sail changes in that order much to Skipper Mabel's annoyance. For those who have forgotten Mabel is the real skipper on board. She is a pretty little ships mouse with the heart and soul of a lion. Her two main crew consisting of her husband Miguel, and stubborn little Millicent mouse who often has to be forced out during bad weather. They have been given a few months off on for their summer holiday under the floor boards in Lilliput. Mabel would have preferred it if the crew had prioritised the sailing. Her biggest concern of all was the close proximity of Mad Monkey who she thought were sailing far too close to the good ship Mischief and were clearly on some Monkey business and after the Mischief stash of Tim Tam's. Wendy and Neen who were on watch between 3am and 6am felt sure the Monkey's would take to their tender in the hours of darkness to surreptitiously board and secure the Tim Tam's to help Josh through his study periods. Wendy armed herself with a boat hook and Neen with the fishing gaff. A formidable pair of Scare pirates. Needless to say the Monkey's failed in their attempts and passed us by into the distance terrified by the crazed pair. Delicious These Tim Tam's. Also spotted on the bow early in the morning was Mark, leaving little to the imagination in his fitted underpants, pulling physical jerks to maintain his Rodin sculptural physique and to change the colour of his skin from Rodin's worked white marble.

Bones of Emily Morgan wins all prizes for DJ. Good morning Vietnam.

I'm sure we've all seen the film, Bones a dead ringer for Robin Williams voted best ARC Hospital Radio DJ, Dave says preferably as a patient!!!!

Mischief the fish mongers.

Mark mashed the Mahimahi, skipper, not Mabel, she was exhausted below with cat flu, skinned it and crew consumed it.

Catch of the day is an unreliable business on Mischief, sometimes its on the menu and sometimes it remains food envy. And sometime flotsam in the form of pieces of polystyrene is actually a fish. Early morning is always time for fishing action, when this sport overtakes the sailing priorities. The ones that got away were plentiful, huge enormous great Marlin, numerous tuna and two pieces of floating jetsam.

Caught and ate, said with pride, were two tuna, colourful Mahimahi that made tasty sushi. These fishes were filleted beautifully by Dave and Mark, although Mark did deliberately leave in a couple of bones to keep the crew's calcium levels at a peak.

Luckily the numerous dolphins that cruised by to say hello, missed the lures, clever mammals. Unc was dolphin spotter of the day most days with his eagle eye for a shapely mammal. Whilst on the subject of food the crew do enjoy a "Binge on the Ginge" Ginger nuts are Wendy's favourite...... as Mark's and Spencer's all butter ginger cookies are absent from the supermarket shelves of Australia and all of the remote Pacific islands. Not holding out much hope for Indonesia either.

Trouble day 4 in the Mischief cockpit.

In the afternoon of day 4 Mark insulted the Commander Wendy.......a dangerous thing to do but does make good TV in the absence of good TV. He tried to defend himself after being accused of mashing the Mahimahi where blood was seen between its teeth. He suggested if he brushed the commanders teeth hard enough she too would bleed but would survive! "So your accusing me of having gingivitis?" Retaliation for this insult was severe, Wendy inserted the ships aerial from the hand held radio where Marks body has never seen the sun rise or set. Mark spent the rest of the day crimping with his head lowered.
