ARC 2022 social programme and kids club underway

12 November 2022

Each day brings more boats to the pontoons, crew arriving and excitement is building. Over 100 boats have arrived and checked in, safety inspections are in progress and the social programme has begun with sundowners most evenings at the dinghy park. The first week of seminars was well attended and preparations can be seen across the marina.

Ahead of Kids Club next week children from boats across the fleet met this afternoon for games at the dinghy park with organisers, Federacion Insular de Vela de Gran Canaria. Kids Club runs Monday to Friday 09.00 ā€“ 13.00 and is a great opportunity for all the ARC 2022 kids to get together, friendships to be made and gives the adults some time to get jobs done or relax for a couple of hours!

Sailor Ted was also seen getting involved in the action this afternoon with Kids Club and is still looking for a boat to cross the Atlantic with ARC 2022, stories can be submitted to the shop and he will choose his favourite and join that boat on the crossing to Saint Lucia.

Many of the families will have already met and friendships have been made either on the family pontoon ā€˜Sā€™ dock, or at the family BBQ held on Wednesday. Around 40 people attended with a magician entertaining the children with balloon shapes and magic tricks while the adults enjoyed steak and sangria.

The social programme will ramp up next week beginning with the spectacular opening ceremony on Sunday at 12pm. Each of the 28 different nationalities of ARC boats will be represented in the procession all around the marina accompanied by music from a band.
