Coyote 2 - The Final Days

We are now in the final miles of our transit of the great Atlantic ocean journey – 279 miles as I write.  It seems though, that we have been in the final days for a while now.  Weather and wind have conspired to slow our progress down and the forecast is not looking all that helpful.  But, with each tick over -600, 500, 400, 300 miles left to go - there is renewed excitement on deck and in our somewhat cozy cabin.  There are excited and exuberant discussions about first drinks, first meals, lengthy and extensive spa visits – oh, and the blessed first and second shower.  But, most often talked of is the return to our own beds – or any bed for that matter.  One that doesn’t roll and lurch unexpectedly, or have a 30 horsepower engine inches from your head, or have a whirring water maker groaning for hours on end.  These are the simple things we look forward to now.  That and seeing friends, family and loved ones.  It’s been an amazing journey and we have all become fast friends.  The laughter and giggles still ring through the boat day and night. Chocolate, flying objects/people through the cabin and the odd demonstration of a hidden personal talent seem to garner the loudest outbursts.  I think, even though we are all looking towards the finish line, these will be the things we’ll miss the most when we are home in our cozy, comfy, large, soft, roomy, stable, dry beds.  Anyway, 277.5 more miles to go before a nice, cold rum punch (with ice cubes) and a meal that requires more than 5 minutes in boiling water before being ready to serve.

See you on the flip side. K (Hello;))
