A glorious day, with a little bit of everything.

Before sunrise gybe, failed fishing, sunshine, light air sailing, RCC MIAMI, MRCC UK, fresh salad and plenty of water.

This morning had a close quarters flyby a fellow St Lucian bound vessel. Would have been useful if had been woken a little earlier, as we would have gybed earlier. As it was, we realised that our red aspect light had failed at some point during the night and that we were running dark to 1/3 of our port aspect.

It has been light airs today, a steady 6-10 knots of wind. This morning we sailed under Code Zero. This afternoon, changing to our light weight kite. We were able to sail much deeper, straight down the line towards St Lucia at a pretty good boat speed.

Dinner was baked vegetables and a mash type creation; bloody tasty.

We dropped the kite and went back to the Code Zero after canapés. It was seamless. The crew really working together as one with a sense of urgency and perspective.

We’ve only 718.1 nm to go to the northern end of the finish line. At time of writing, we’ve sailed some 2,512 nautical miles together since leaven Gran Canaria.

Jon, Terry, Will and Jules spotted a lifering adrift. I reported it to MRCC UK. They forwarded it to RCC Norfolk. They copied RCC MIAMI. It is good to know that the Coastguard is out there, over the horizon.

We shifted the clocks another hour this evening.

Local boat time is now two hours earlier than GMT. I find it easier to stay in GMT — this is the only constant time we have. Local time is fairly irrelevant other than knowing what time watches are up and down — and to give a meal a name of lunch, opposed to breakfast or dinner.

Weather, daily position schedules and log book all run to GMT.

On that, I’m going to crash soon. Possibly another body night ahead. As we get closer, there are a great number of boats all heading to the same spot of water to the north-east of St.Lucia..

Oh, thinking of sleep. If you enjoyed the 4 and 8 minute sleep videos, take a look at this:

Matthew Walker is a pretty cool guy.

Fair breeze, god speed and following seas.
