It’s been a pretty good day.

Our sail is just about ready to go back in the sky which will put a jump on our speed to St Lucia.

Sail repair tape is in zero supply, some creativity with an old bed sheet and reinforcing panels is in the final stretch.

We just celebrated reaching half-way. Our trip distance now equals a greater number than the distance remaining to the finish line.

The crew picked-up a few items in their Detailed Dusk Deck through. Part of my objective is to create the space where I am redundant onboard. Where the crew are able to drive the boat safely and fast without me needing to do anything.

We hit our first issue below decks; as the half-way party clean-up was underway. The fresh water pump failed. We’ll take a look in daylight with fresh and rested brains. You did take a look at the sleep video? Efq.wiki/sleep4min — best problem a brain with a clear problem.

The frustrating element comes from having 630 litres of freshly made drinking water sat inside two interconnected tanks and not being able to pump it out.

Had a brief radio chat with yacht Starry Knight earlier. Not met them yet. Their 'Old Man' (Skipper/Captain/Master) sounds pro. Good radio etiquette, crisp and clean. It’s a bloody big lonely pond we are all in. Be good to share a cold one with them in a week or so.

If you have a look at any weather app — zoom out and east from the Caribbean. You’ll see a big blue windless hole over the next few days. This is a very real parking lot. Over the next few days, you’ll see the fleet on a mostly southerly ‘port tack’ trajectory. All looking to skip south of the wind hole, before hanging a right and mainlining to NE St Lucifer.

The gamble comes as to how much to cut the corner. Too far north, shorter distance — less (possibly zero) wind. Too far south, longer distance (lots [relative] of wind).

Hopefully, King Neptune feels we have invested respect and will give us an easier fast sailing night filled with restorative sleep.

At time of writing, Jules in the zone on the final push to have the sail repaired. Terry is digging for snacks. John is on the stick (helm) and slay riding us down the swell. Will is spotting John and calling the numbers. Jen, Louisa, Tom and Peter are all catching some very well earned zzzs.

Looking to get a relatively early night.

Fair breeze, god speed and following seas.
