Occhi Indaco - Almost a normal day at sea

Now it is already day 6 or rather just 00:35 and the weather is much better. Yesterday was the first day where we had a more normal day. Nothing broke (dare we even tempt fate to say that!) We still have a few issues that need attending but nothing critical so it has been postponed for later today.

Our slightly battered crew had a nice time untangling fishing lines, reading books, watching movies, exercising, relaxing, making flap jack, doing laundry, massaging, cooking , dolphin watching and we even saw a shark. We had the water maker going so all our bottles for water have been refilled. As a treat we also have a soda-stream so we are able to make fizzy water.

Our project in making yoghurt is not really working out as it should, but we will probably try again. Our freezer is going out here and there and is making it challenging in keeping our food frozen. Our lunch today was determined by what was the most defrosted.

We are grateful that we have reached the trade winds, and calm seas have eased our minds as we have set out for the remaining miles. We must not be complacent however, as there is a large swell coming and squalls are always a threat.

We kicked off the night watches to the sounds of a crew member playing the guitar and singing. The winds are shifting to and fro and we are getting gust up to 21 knots. It is no longer wet and chilly during the night. Our moonrise was the most spectacular so far, a beautiful orange glow and the night sky, with its thousands of twinkling stars, made for a mesmerizing backdrop to the wonderful live music.

Hopefully we will be able to fish later today When the fishing line finally has been untangled, but there are still a few 100 knots left in the line. We have seen many big fish and are hoping to have one for dinner. On a different note, we have already caught a lot of fish with our boat including one flying fish that came through a hatch and ended up on the floor in one of our cabins.

Skipper has needed dental services this morning and was tended to very efficiently by an able crew member and is now able to show off his bright sparkly smile once again.

We don’t know what happened to Bluejay, but we must have overtaken them again as we gained speed after the sail repair and the stay sail finally coming up. We saw that we were no. 13 in A1 vessels, which sounds really good, especially if you don’t know there is only 22 in the group.

Even in 9th from last place, the skipper still loves his crew. ❤️
