Sweet Dream - Day 95 April 18, 2019

Four a.m. brought a 120 degree wind shift from ESE to W of N! We had been sailing along quite comfortably for several hours when we encountered a squall line twelve miles long and two miles wide. Captain was just about to come off his watch, as I was coming up and he had the sails in lickety-split as the crazy wind veered quickly, then the rain hit. It poured rain for 90 minutes, then the wind came round on the nose from the south west and just died altogether. Quite a start to an otherwise very uneventful, calm and beautiful day at sea. Late in the afternoon we watched yet another squall line march across five miles in front of us, once again causing a 180 degree flip in the wind. This one missed us, and we came out on the other side to a golden Pasech moon rising in the clear sky to the east, and pretty feather clouds to the west. As I write this just before 01:00 I can see the glow of the lights of Tahiti on the horizon. We have mixed feelings, happy to be approaching a place to get some much needed projects accomplished, yet a wee bit sad that this is probably the last night passage sailing for about six weeks. Well, yin and yang. It does take balance in this salty life on a Sweet Dream.
