Bluewaft - Bluewaft Log Day 13: Sunset Martinis

Bluewaft Log Day 14
Saturday 3 December 2016
19°05’.375N 042°52’.924W
Two weeks in and all’s well. 1,100 nautical miles to go! We’ve had good
wind nudging up to 25kts true ENE all day and have enjoyed the smoother
sailing using the gennaker on a beam reach, making an average of over 6
knots. No trouble with squalls last night – but a few around this morning
and some light showers. So our more northern route seems to be paying
dividends (forecast was for 5-10kts). Nice not to be using the engine and
having enough fuel in reserve for the last few miles if required (touch
wood)!
Yesterday was our best fishing day yet. Plenty of flying fish around the
deck. 3 mahi mahi and Marcus landed a barracuda (we let the 2nd one go).
We decided to take the rods in until we’ve eaten what we have …so fish for
dinner tonight!
For sun downers we went for muddy martini’s. (2 pt Vodka, 2 part Gin, 1
part Vermouth, glasses chilled in ice and rinsed in Angustine Bitters, dash
of olive water, olive on a toothpick). They went down well (one was
enough!).
For dinner Marcus BBQ’d us up some German sausages with boiled potatoes and
carrots all washed down with a Cabernet Savignon – simple but tasty!
Happy sails!
