Bluewaft - Bluewaft Log Day 7

Bluewaft Log Day 7
Saturday 26 November 2016
21°14’.081N 027°17’.467W
We had a bouncy sail last night, with a line of squalls lasting several
hours. While on the upside we were able to douse the gennaker in plenty of
time, and got some good boat speed with the whites, at the end of it all
there was frustratingly little wind and some rain for our troubles. This
morning after a fruitless attempt to fly the gennaker again we resorted to
the donk. We are now motor sailing making a good 6 knots.
Last night during the squalls a couple of petrels made shelter on the boat.
They are now hanging around using us as a launching pad for their fishing
expeditions.
Speaking of which not a nibble yesterday. Although we had our first flying
fish on board this morning. This morning we were greeted by a large pod of
Pilot Whales. We’ve also seen a couple of large pods of Atlantic Spotted
dolphins.
Last night’s Mahi Mahi was prepared three ways, with Jame’s poisson cru,
BBQ and grilled. Something for everyone. Tonight I think we’ll raid the
freezer for steak alla BBQ! (my turn to cook!)
Hoping for stronger winds soon!
