SuperTramp - 4 days down

600 miles just achieved in under 4 days sailing which we are extremely happy with. Conditions up north on the rhumb line may have the best winds but we are experiencing very high waves and a bit choppy. The 20knot plus winds are definitely testing Supertramp and its crew. Fiona is working like a devil to keep us fed and watered with the help of Scott and Will. Occasionally the rare sight of myself and Fred have worked out what Fairy liquid is used for and the odd drying up session. Fi is the only one capable of cooking whilst being bounced around the galley with hot pan in one hand and a G & T for the skipper Brian in the other. On the only day of calm winds on the first monday morning we were visited by a large pod of dolphins which played under the bow for 20 mins. Great video to share when we arrive in St Lucia. Small panic on day one when the sat phone wouldn't accept emails for weather which brought up the option of turning back or popping into Cape Verdes. Luckily a quick phone call to Mailasail sorted the issue and we were back in business. We took the hard decision to motor for quite a few hours on day one to escape the calm winds south of Las Palmas which allowed us to head due west. Due to good weather forecasts we headed west down the rhumb line to pick up gorgeous strong winds. Have been taking it easy by only sailing with our genoa out due to the strong winds and very choppy conditions. Seem to have good winds ahead for next 2 to 3 days and wait the next forecast to discuss route options for only the last 2000 miles. Hope to be in St Lucia by xmas but if we aren't there is enough food onboard to feed half of the Caribbean and enough Gin to keep our Scottish crew very happy.
Glad to hear the crew of Noah are safe and sound and that 4 yachts responded to their distress signal which goes to prove being part of the Arc is a massive help in making it a safer crossing.

Happy sailing and see you soon
