Paw Paw - Log Day 232: Definitely Rustic

After listening to the Vava'u morning net, which gives sailors information about the area, we headed to the dinghy dock to meet Nina for a tour around the main settlement of Neiafu, as we worked our way towards the Customs Office and Digicel, where we had to drop off our Inter-Island documentation and arrange a data service for our phone, respectively.

Then it was a stop off at Tropicana's for a morning coffee, followed by lunch at the Mango Café. By then we were ready to return to Paw Paw for an afternoon nap and a quiet evening aboard after all the socialising since our arrival here. We did, however, have Cetacea (Gail and Tony) stop by to say hello and invite us out to dinner this evening to catch up, since last seeing them in Samoa. As tempting as the offer was, we opted for the early night instead and made arrangements for tomorrow.

Vava'u, in particular Neiafu, is nothing like any other destination we have seen either her e in the South Pacific or in the Caribbean. It's a strange little place to say the least. It is definitely rustic and emphasises the fact that the Kingdom of Tonga is a lot poorer than its neighbouring countries, but it has everything we need as far as services go. We're looking forward to getting out and about to explore a little more.
