Majic-L - Majical Challenge Day 3

Woke up to the wind and rain today, but we had already decided that we would start the day with a Wetherspoons so as soon as the rain stopped we were off up the high st. Four large breakfasts later (and they were big!) and we were ready for anything after 1500 calories. Admired Linda's self control as she could watch the rest of us eat all that as she had taken the healthy option of grapefruit. That being said, we didn't have pints at 9:30 in the morning with our food as a few of the customers were doing surprisingly.
We needed a walk after that so walked nearly 2 miles to Gosport Living Flame to buy some fireproof rope and special glue to fix the glass on the oven door on the boat - glad they had it after all that as we will need the oven for the challenge tomorrow (more of that later!). A trip to the chandlers was next - we had some bunting that we had brought down for the event, but once up it looked rather small and so Richard was keen to get
something more substantial. We ended up buying what are a set of flags that you add to a rope so will look much more the part so looking forward to seeing these when we get across the channel.
Spent a fair amount of time today (like some other boat crew members) relaxing and reading in the cockpit.
Most of us decided to visit Gunwharf Quays outlet shopping centre this afternoon so got the ferry across. I was quite impressed in there were some genuine bargain prices to be had and a good selection of shops - including some yachting wear shops like Musto. Picked up some yachting mats and coasters in the Denby outlet shop for Majic-L.
Got back with 15 mins to spare for the evening drinks meeting in Hardys bar. It was good to get together again with some of the other boat crews and have a chinwag. Then Sally told us about the revised programme and that we would be setting out for Cherborg very early on Monday - and tomorrow there was a "bake-off" competition for the crews, but using your boat facilities! We decided to eat in Hardys today and on our boat tomorrow as we will need an early night - very good food and a well kept ale (Doom Bar) kept us happy. So back to the repaired oven - much debate about what we could reasonably make and who would be our baker so more about that tomorrow all.......
