Adagio - Giving way...

A low pressure system, properly placed and moving in the right direction, is a wonderful thing. Plenty of winds and cool, overcast weather with occasional rain showers to rinse the salt off Adagio's deck. But, just when you start talking about arriving and you accidentally use the term "if this keeps up....." the big "H" moves in and messes everything up. OK, not really mesing anything up. The crystal blue skies and warmer temperature and smoother seas are wonderful but we had to collectively wonder why the forecast calls it "WIND" and then says "2 kts". Is that wind??? Well, I guess it is, because it's a headwind and we can note the tiny hinderance to our forward progress as we fired up the engine and are motoring along.

While I'm not thrilled about burning engine hours, at least we are making progress in the direction we want to go, can get a good charge on the batteries and can even make some water to replenish the tank. We are already in anticipation of the wind filling back in and having another great sail to the east. It's been a bit rough, a bit rolly and a bit windy, but it has been FUN!

Good conversations and great good fellowship with a wonderful crew. The biggest problem we've found so far is that we don;t have Google or Wikipedia to help us out with some of our really critical on board questions. No, I don't mean "Can we see how big and in which direction the next low pressure system is going?"

I mean important stuff like:
1: Is it "Avast, me HARDIES!" or "Avast, me HEARTIES!"?
2: Why do they really call them the "Horse Latitudes"?
3: Where did the term "Nobody here but us Chickens." come from?
4: How long is a "League" (as in "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea")?

See what we struggle with out here? :)

Any day sailing is a good day!
