Skyelark of London - Day 14

Day 14
Having just got off to sleep after my 4-7am watch I awoke to much commotion
on deck at 8.30am when our pole fitting failed (used for our headsail),
probably because pushing a bit too hard last night, but by the time I got up
to the smell of Dan's eggs and rashers, the pole was out again, and we were
breezing along nicely towards St Lucia.
Another quiet day, with a little bit of activity around lunchtime as we put
in a gybe. No dolphins, pah! no fish, pah! We passed a large yacht [at
least 100ft] quite close this afternoon with spinnaker up proudly racing
past and seemingly not part of the ARC contingent.
This evening the boys are most happy as another bottle of tonic for their
happy hour GT has been discovered from somewhere in the bilges. Thankfully
my Vodka and Lime ration remains healthy. Mike and Simon were on cooking
duties and produced a most commendable Beef Tagine for which I offered my
2006 bottle of spanish vino to accompany it. So all is well aboard
Skyelark as night falls and the evening watch settles in. We are now 536nm
to destination with good sailing predicted next few days.
