Agua Dulce - Spinnaker Fun, then Wing & Wing

The start was exciting with over 40 sailboats in all shapes and sizes milling around in St. Georges Harbour waiting for the yellow shirts to sound the horn to signal the start and send us off through Town Cut. As we sailed through the cut, we saw several Bermuda longtails wheeling overhead - a good omen for sure! With light winds behind the fleet, many spinnakers were quickly hoisted, and we did the same. Soon, however we had an interesting moment. The belly of the sail got twisted around the sock lines - not a pretty situation. So, we pulled the whole thing down on the deck - seemed like MILES of canvas - and set to work untwisting and unraveling. About an hour and a half later, it was up and flying. At that point, however, the wind had shifted and we decided it would be better to run wing and wing. It was a good decision as we have continued to sail wing and wing all night and through the day. Winds are light, but the sun is shining and the seas are beautiful. We have a fishing line in the water, but nothing is interested in it yet. All in all, it was a good first day back at sea.
