Makena - Pacific Crossing Day 2

We’ve just had some freshly caught Bonita for dinner - thanks Dave for reeling it in and Luc for cooking it up for us with some tasty sesame seeds atop.

The small but uncomfortably aligned waves are making things just slightly ‘lumpy' for us now but being on a catamaran we really cannot complain.

We’ve averaged 165nm towards our destination in the past 2 days. There are still some pretty huge numbers up next to the “DTW” or Distance to Waypoint heading. At 5pm we dropped below 2600nm to go. Cause for a celebratory beer for some.

We had our first ever near incident with the spinnacker but we avoided trouble and took it down not long after when we got some gusts of wind.

We can see the boat A Plus 2 nearby so that is nice and it means that they are also within VHF range for the occasional chat. We are also often near Exocet Strike and also speak with them, exchanging heads up on wind speeds and squalls.

We’ve done a lot of sailing at 10+ knots today so it’s felt really good. The guys have all just had some Banane Flambee (yes, all the bananas became ripe at once - we also have been having lots of banana and pineapple smoothies).

We gave the insurance man puzzle from In Code on the SSB this morning. Not sure that the whole fleet could hear but Paul from Juno repeated the essence of it and gave a good chuckle at the last hint, which was the desired response! Hopefully people have some fun with it and we are not driving them nuts!

All good aboard and emails are coming through from loved ones so that is nice.

Take care all from all aboard Makena
