Monomotapa - 10 December

Monomotapa 10 December

We have arrived, crossed the line at 07.05 a.m. local time (5 hours behind the UK)

We have been carefully watching the boat positions as we approach the finishing line, and it is quite amazing that after 2,758 nm and more that 16 days that there are more than 35 boats within a 100 nm distance, about 12 hours sailing.

We very much hope that you have enjoyed our blog , and that you have found it informative, interesting and humorous - thanks to our on-board Entertainment Team: Henrik and Trevor for keeping us smiling...

For those of you following us on our Facebook page we plan to send some more photographs as soon as we reach a suitable cafe/bar with a wireless network. Special, and very big thanks to Natty for managing our Facebook page and acting as a focal communication point.

This has been a most enjoyable trip, with a great skipper, first mate and cook. The crew has been truly international and other than the occasional problems of communications we have worked well together. The variety of crew members has also added to the mixed attitudes, humour and general joie de vive.Thank

Our adventure has involved varying types of weather, differing wind directions (the trade winds must have a new trade union because the do no work much of the time!), we have damaged two genakers beyond repair, we have damaged and repaired two spinnaakers. We have raced the boat to our best abilities 24 hours every day, includng the last 100nm chasng our competitors all the way to the line.

From the crew, Alberto; skipper, Giuliano; first mate, Antonella: cook exceptional, David, Mike, Juan, Henrik and Trevor

That's all folks

Ciao
