Aretha - Day 5 - Making rapid progress

We’re feeling properly at sea now.

Life is calmer - we are all more relaxed. It helps to be making rapid progress too. After a morning heading South we’ve spent the past 10 hours pointing directly at St Lucia on a beam reach doing between 7 and 9 knots. It’s a fast bouncy sleigh ride. Watching Aretha carve through the water and the swoosh down the hull reminds me of skiing through fresh powder.

The children are loving having Paul and Jani on board. They are brilliant with them and it helps to have different influences other than Nichola and mine after 3 months at sea together.

More repairs today. An interesting one today. We punctured the tender on one of the davit pins which lost its protective cover. For today, it was hove to and lash the tender onto the davits with spare sheets. We have repairs do when we arrive in St Lucia.

Lunch was the Dorado we caught today. Columbus has been exchanging emails with his “Atlantic penpal” as he calls him - Paul on board Juno as they swap fishing stories and how to make Dorado fish fingers.

Water maker and hot showers due tomorrow.

Over and out from Team Aretha.
