Reina - Log 6 - MY BEAUTIFUL KNIFE

“When I was 9 years old I joined the boy scouts,” Jack Rhode Pearce starts his story. “Every week having fun with my friends. Doing nice things like camping and so on. Of course as a good scout I needed a good knife. My father gave it to me. A genuine Victorinox with a lot of possibilities. It made me a proud scout.” After a few years Jack left the scouts. His knife disappeared in a drawer and was never again looked after.

Now Jack is 17, the youngest crew member on Reina. Doing everything between dishes and the watch. Cleaning, serving, steering, filming and also fishing. He is proudly wearing the knife his father gave him years ago on his belt. Like a real sailor. And of course he is using it. To cut a peace of rope, to make a stencil for painting the name of Reina on the wall in Las Palmas and to get a twisted lure out of the fishing line. It is good to have Jack aboard. He will be a great sailor within a few years and always remember his father when using his knife.
