Lily - DDAY - 3; Getting Ready

Short introduction might be important as it is our first blog (ever).

We are sailing double handed if one excludes our boat cat BORIS (he is not much use doing watches as he tends to catch up with his sleep during sailing). Our yacht is an AMEL 54 build in 2010, which we intend to sail around the world (or a part of it if we run out of funds sooner than expected).

Almost ready to go! As always the TO-DO list is, somehow, getting longer instead of shorter. However, we are going to adopt a ‘management best practise’ approach and simple clean out the TO-DO list once we are off. All important and essential items have been completed so anything left will have to be done on the ‘other side’!

The wind forecast looks brilliant. With a full moon during the first night, we will have plenty of time enjoying the ride and enjoy the scenery (if any). The first few nights we will need something to look at as we will have no ‘sea legs’ yet so sleep is basically none existing (eyes wide open trying to remember why exactly we think this is fun …).

Few more days of building up the nerves and become all stoked about leaving!

Boris (still awake as he just went for a swim in the marina - all smelling like diesel now), Ineke (initially smelling of diesel as well but after a shower now smelling a lot better) and Ron.
