La Cigale - Day 9 - 27 November - Horrible Histories and Silver Linings

Well, we have now caught the trade winds and are sailing along, but our dinghy's a bit deflated. Yesterday when recovering the fishing line from our catch (and release!) of the day, the hook caught our tender in the side, and overnight the all the wind went out of it. A bit like us today when we worked out that while covering 700 nautical miles in week 1 (effectively 600 given we had to retrace our steps), we still have 2,100 to go. Now we are picking up speed, with our great white gennaker, trimmed with red, out during the day, hopefully that doesn't mean it will take us another three weeks, but whether we make the welcome party on 15th will be a close call...

La Cigale is also running low on battery thanks to an overcast day - not very helpful when we are dependent on solar power to recharge. Still, Isabelle brought her box set of Horrible Histories up into the cockpit, and adults and kids alike curled with on the sofas with a tome each, ranging from Grizzly Greeks to Slimy Stuarts. All the great disasters in history put recharging an iPad into context!

Along with catching the trade winds we are celebrating Francis finding his sea legs, and wishing Helen's Dad David a very Happy Birthday. As we've had to turn off one fridge today to conserve energy, we think we should have a beer while it is still chilled. Hard to tell with all the cloud cover, but it's gone 6pm and we reckon the sun's over the yardarm... cheers!

PS Harley is desperate to know the rugby score of All Blacks v Wales. Can someone post the result or email [email protected] - thanks!
