Raggy Doll - Day 4, 5 and the Morning of 6 - The results are in

Before I get embroiled in the why's and wherefore's of the election results, that I'm sure by the time this is posted you will all know, I, for one did not vote, purely because I left home before the postal vote arrived and I wasn't organised enough to arrange a proxy, so at this point, I am taking the "no comment" stance.

Wednesday was used doing general odds and ends with AJ spending in excess of three hours in the marina laundry room washing the boats smalls (or larges as the case may be), while Andrew and I went into town and enjoyed a Costa Coffee and dipped in and out of various usual or unusual shops. Those of you reading this, may be thinking by now, that AJ is just the yacht skivvy, in Andrew and my own defence, that is not the case, she is a well respected and valued member of the crew, especially as she bought the lucky dip bag. More about that later!

Wednesday evening was spent in the company of Keith and Val from Snow Goose of Grenofen, eating at Rick Stein's restaurant nearby, AJ was allowed to accompany us, as she had finished her yacht chores! The food was delicious and the company very enjoyable. It is interesting listening to the stories of why people are on this trip. On arrival back at Raggy Doll it was my turn for the evening lucky dip ritual, I picked a neatly wrapped packet of Werthers Original Butter Candies, for anyone not knowing what they are, go immediately to your local grocers shop and buy some, they are a must for any self respecting yacht crew!

Thursday, was spent doing more chores, including Jane buying a very useful piece of equipment called a Sackkarre, that I'm sure you can workout translates to a sack cart. We needed one to transport the diesel cans to the local marina fuel pontoon for a refill.

In the latter part of the afternoon, Andrew and I went with the newly purchased Sackkarre bumping along behind us, walked to the pontoon and engaged in conversation with the fuel pontoon keeper who was kind enough to inform us that at low water just outside Pendennis Marina is a sandbank that has caught may a boat skipper unawares, leaving them stranded until the tide turns, so beware!

Thursday also welcomed the arrival of our secret crew member, but that needs to be kept under wraps as we haven't paid the additional fees to ARC, so more about that in future blogs!

Thursday evening several ARC crews including ourselves, took the long walk to the Royal Cornwall Yacht club and were made to feel very welcome as we watched some of the Americas Cup Races on a large screen. The broadcast ended with a personal message for the yacht club from Sir Charles Benedict "Ben" Ainslie CBE, the most successful sailor in Olympic History (I got that from wiki, Wikipedia that is, not WikiWiki, another yacht on our rally!).

After the broadcast ended the crews of Grey Goose, Le Soleil, Mischief, Neverland and Raggy Doll enjoyed the culinary delights of the Thai Orchid restaurant. Raggy Doll and Le Soleil made a hasty retreat, when the rest went on to 5 Degrees West, one of the local pubs. On arrival at Raggy Doll, we quickly retired and totally forgot the lucky dip! So, bright and early this election results day morning Andrew got to pick and was rewarded with M & S Sea Salt Caramels, as the new saying goes, "when the world is a mess, keep calm and eat chocolate!"
