Ximera - Day twelve - Milestones

14∞08.48 N - 32∞04.48 W --> 13∞58.51 N - 34∞23.50 W

We are always in the middle of something.

At 4 o' clock AM we are in the middle of the 13∞ parallel and at 4 o'clock PM we are in the middle of our crazy route from Canary Islands to Caribbean - via East of Cape Verde islands. Half-way point, with 1650 miles to go and 1650 miles already done - unless we decide to say 'hello Venezuela' because we think that there is more wind at the south of the 12∞ parallel... ?

But today someone between us is also contemporary on top, and at the end and at the beginning of something else: on top of another personal woman-earth revolution around the sun: today it's Michelle's birthday! The whole day is dedicated to strange blue-water celebrations with streamers, champagne, singing, poems and piano compositions.

I'm sure you agree with me, it's a perfect time for a swim in the ocean! But it's not to be, finally it's time to go a bit faster and build some miles to our destination. Since sunset we have a constant 10-15 knots, cloudy sky and a perfect wind angle to put our bow straight to Rodney Bay harbour. The gennaker is hoisted and poled out since many days and nights now, it has true fun playing with the wind, moving its belly around, lifting up and down the bow of Ximera as a loving mother would do to reassure and keep calm her baby for his well-being.

We have entered in UTC zone -2 and our clock moves one more hour backwards, last milestone for today but many more to come on this journey, I'm sure.
