Midnight Wanderer - Day 3 - Saturday

It was windy, with the odd squall, so once again, it was a lazy breakfast, with black coffee and toast and the bottom of the last jar of my homemade marmalade. Disaster, as we hadn't provisioned any more. This, as you will learn, had a major bearing on decisions made later.

So the crew agreed that shopping would be good therapy given the exciting email we all received from Sally. Monday it is, thank heavens, when we will then get going. The green ferry
got us to Gun Wharf, a premier retail outlet. Bargains! Musto, Vans, M&S, Bose, Levi's and more, which meant the card took a hit. Over lunch in Tiger Tiger, which I had gone to thinking it was that Danish shop of things you buy but don't need, we agreed that we would leave the marina. After all, we had run out of marmalade and there was more at our house in Port Solent. So a taxi got us home, we watched Nicola beat the Frenchwoman to win gold (always good to see the French get beat, and before you react, I worked for a French Bank for a while and it was hell!) and then the synchronised swimming which made me think that it must have been thought up by old fogies in a bar after six pints. We were sorry, but not too distraught, to miss the drinks at Hardy's but I'm sure there will be other occasions before long.

And so to bed, sprung mattress, duvet, down feather pillows and en suite bathroom. We look forward to the tea party tomorrow afternoon, and more, yet more, cups of tea!

Sleep tight!
