Paw Paw - Log Day 152: Not Quite the Paradise, but Close Enough

Last night was indeed a very long night, as the worst of this winter storm passed over us, while we stood anchor watch, in less than desirable conditions. The winds never turned E/ESE which would have given us more protection behind the hills. So, instead, we endured sustained winds of 27 to 33 Kts, gusting to as high as 39 Kts at one point. Fortunately the sea state was not uncomfortable and Paw Paw held her ground, not dragging an inch. So too did the other yachts in the anchorage, thank goodness.

Today remainded blustery, rainy and miserable, so Elaine decided she wasn't even getting out of bed. She did, however, take the time to study all the cruising guides and charts on the Society Islands we have yet to visit. In particular, searching for at least one anchorage per island that would provide safe haven should these storms continue to invade the tropical latitudes. After dinner she managed to muster up the inclination and made some Greek style yogurt for breakfast tomorrow.

Roy spent the day paying homage to his laptop again, but also managed to bake a crusty loaf to accompany the homemade vegetable soup he made -No better way to end the day than with a bowl of hot, homemade soup and freshly baked bread - Not quite the paradise we thought we would find in the South Pacific, but close enough!
